Using something link laser cutting or cutting out of the pages could be interesting in front of images and/or text for titles or headings that are important. This would work well to frame an image also from the page before or after so that things from other page that are important can still be seen when reading further.
I really like the layouts that Process Journal use, using colour and different font types to differentiate between lines, questions, answers and headings. Te balance of type and image is also very good in that there isn't too much type on one page, which could overwhelm or confuse a reader.
This page is very image heavy, but using the monochrome images and a lot of empty space prevents it from being too over powering and keeps it interesting. I need to be thoughtful about placing images and text in my publication so that the page stays interesting without being too confused.
I like this use of image and type working together in this piece, and I think it could work well for headings and section separation in my publication. However, for this I need to make sure that the images are not too busy, especially in colour, so that the headings stand out and are understandable.
This layout would work well for a double page layout in my publication, but I also need to take into consideration that with the folder, all of my pages will be single, double sided pages and are not bound in the middle. However, I do like the idea of framing some important parts of my content with boxes, perhaps use colour to highlight these parts.

These are some of the initial layout designs for each section. Since all of the sections are different sizes I will have to change the grid/layout of each section, and so making the publication look uniform will be quite difficult. I have to keep in mind the balance of image and type, and also make sure that the pages of each section have enough similarities that the whole publication looks good as a whole. I don't want to make the pages too similar though, as the sections need to be different due to the different sizes of each of the sections.

After printing out of these first layouts, I soon realised that the writing on the left of the page needed to be moved across to make room for the binding of the publication. I also thought about a way of making the pages look more interesting, and so taking inspiration from newspaper publications and informative publications, I included some more colour and lines to keep the publications interesting, and also use these to make the pages feel more informative without being too casual.
